What actually is energy work? An explanation for beginners

10 August 2026 · Caroline

“So what exactly do you do?” I often hear this question when I talk about energy work, and it's completely fair. Unlike a classic massage, there isn't much to see from the outside, so I'd like to explain here what actually happens during a session.

The basic idea

Energy work assumes that a subtle energy system flows through your body, similar to blood flowing through your veins. Stress, old experiences or emotional strain can disturb or block this flow. You then often feel it as exhaustion, inner restlessness or the feeling of not being quite “yourself”.

What a session looks like

We begin with a short conversation about how you're doing right now. Then you lie or sit comfortably, usually fully clothed, while I work with gentle laying on of hands or targeted massage. Many people describe a deep sense of relaxation; some feel warmth or a slight tingling, others even fall asleep for a moment.

What energy work is not

It's important to me to say this clearly: energy work does not replace a medical diagnosis or treatment. It is complementary support that can sit alongside conventional medical care or therapy, not take its place.

Who it's suitable for

The women who come to me most often feel energetically blocked or drained, are looking for gentle, complementary support, or are simply curious how this work feels. You don't have to “believe” in anything to benefit from it; being open is enough.

Energy work is a complementary method and does not replace medical or psychotherapeutic treatment.
